The world was dusted with snow when we awoke this morning–an infrequent event in Eugene. Schools are closed for the day and my meetings cancelled. I shovelled the sidewalk and built a small snowman, but by 10 a.m. the stree was bare and snow was sliding off the roof.

This afternoon I bought a snow slider and took Sophie to the park for a little snow play before it was all gone. She went down a short hill a couple of times, but got snowy and wet. A young man building an “igloo” had more appeal. Matt was happy to let Sophie help him roll snow balls.

When we got back to the house, Lillie, who had stayed home with mom to keep warm and dry, was delighted to see her big sister.
